System requirements for VS 2005

Does anyone know what the runtime requirements are for solutions developed in VS 2005?

Thanks,

Eyvind.

This will entirely depend on your solution which was developed with VS 2005. Obviously a simple console based application that prints "Hello World" to the screen will have significantly lower requirements that a DirectX/Direct3D based FPS video game.
As far as the console example goes the machine should have the correct version of the framework installed and loaded on his or her machine. I don't believe there should really be anything else.

Sure, I am aware of that. But for a windows forms application, I was thinking more along the lines of
- will it run on Win95/98/etc?
- what is the minimum memory requirement (for "hello world")
- does it require a pentum class processor (or pentium 2 or 3)?

Hi,

If you put it to that. Then I guess the minimum requirements would be the same as the minimum requirements of .net framework 2. Coz if you could install the framework, a program as small as the infamous "hello world" would definitely run...

check out the system requirements of .net framework 2...

Hi,

Is it for developing an application or running a developed application? The requirements for using VS2005 to develop an application would be more as compared simply running an already developed app..

For development I'd recommend having a minimum of 512 MB RAM on minimum of 1Ghz Processor.

Paul,

So a compiled app will not work on Win 98 or ME? If that's the case, I'll just have to stick with VS.Net 2003.

Hi,

Hmmph, such a sad thing...
But its still in a Beta Stage. Maybe you could post it as a suggestion here..

Maybe microsoft could support older platforms... (Wishful Thinking I guess...)
