VWD Couldn't be extracted

Hi,

I receive an error during extraction of the vwd.img file, it asks me to retry, ignore or quit. I try retry but same prompt re-appears, when I click ignore, files are extracted but installation encounters problems.

Please let me know how to fix the issue.

Thanks

Zubair -

The *.img files are CD-images which can be burned to CDs ans then used to install Express from the CD. It is not possible to extract these .img files directly (they are not actually archives). Instead you should use the instructions at http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/express/maninstall/#burning to burn the .img file to a CD.

Hi Luke,

Do you mean, after I download the *.img file, I should burn it on the CD first as mentioned on the http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/express/maninstall/#burning and then I should try to extract it from the CD?

Hi,

I have burnt the *.img file to a CD using MagicISO, the burn was successfull however, when I try to install the Visual Web Developer, the setup encounters an error, saying the following component failed to install:

Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Beta 2

The following components were not attempted:
VWD 2.0 Beta 2
MSDN Library

Please tell me whats wrong?

It turns out I was incorrect about needing to burn to a CD before installing. There are instructions for mounting the CD .img file directly and installing without burning at http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/express/maninstall/#installLocal .

As for the installation problems, do you have a previous .NET Framework 2.0 installed on your computer? Perhaps from Beta1? This would be the most common cause for the installation failing to install the framework. If you are still having problems, but you believe your machine is clean of previous .NET Framework 2.0 components, please open a bug at http://labs.msdn.microsoft.com/productfeedback and attach any log files from the following directory that start with "dd_"

%temp%\

This will help us to provide you a workaround and to make sure we fix this problem in the final product.

Hi,

I mounted the image correctly to the ISOBuster but it had problem archiving it, therefore I tried MagicISO and it archived the files to a blank CD without any problems. but, when I tried installing it from setup, I faced the problem mentioned above. However, I have a doubt on the download file's size. From the Microsoft website the file size it showed around 498mb but after the download finished it become 198mb.

Is it the correct file size?

Let me know

Thanks,

And No, I have uninstalled the previous installation of Beta1 from my machine before trying to install Beta 2.

Yes,

the problem was with the download size of the file, re-download solved the problem.

Thanks
