How many virtual users does the load testing support?

Does anyone know what the maximum number of virtual users is for the load testing tools and can the number be extended without adding PC's/Servers to the test?

It depends but there is not hard-coded limit in the tool. The number of virtual users you can run from a single machine is dependent on a number of factors including the type of test (webtest versus unit tests), the amount of memory, the number of CPUs and speed, the network bandwidth and utilization, etc. For a typical web application, with reasonable think times, you should be able to get at least 500 virtual users per machine. However you could get more or you could get less.
