How to setup permissions?

In the permission dialog, what's the exact meaning of each item :

Administrate a build,
edit project-level information,

etc.

Is there any document that explain the explain the detailed meaning of each item and their impact on the project management?

Thanks!

It seems I could only setup permissions when I logged on as the Project Administrators. If I logged on as a user from another domain, but connect to TFS use the Project Administrator account (VSTS will prompt me to input the user name and password), I still can't modify the permissions.

Is this correct?

If so, there raise a problem :

If I connect to TFS from a remote machine (that machine is not a member of the domain), could I use that machine to check out the code, view the project content?

Thanks!

Lei Jiang,

I have same kinda problem.
We installed the team server on a temporary testing server using different domain as the domain our computers are logged onto.

I also had the permission problems, so we added new account on the test domain, and i joined the test domain. Now i still have some permission issues.

I can only create team projects as domain administrator, the domain users gives errors.
Once created i can connect as normal user but don't have the documents and reports available.

At this moment i'm looking to get the team build working ... worked but after recreating a team project i doesnt work no more :(

1. Team Projects can only be created by Namespace Administrators (those who have Admin rights over ALL of Team Foundation).
2. If you want to access Reports and Documents, then the user must be added to the Reports and Documents security. They do not go through Team Foundation. For Reports, you can add the user via the /Reports">http://<reportserver>/Reports web site. For documents, it would be http://<wssserver>/sites/<projectname> You will need to click on the Site Settings and manager users and add the specified user as a contributor or something similar.

You may want to try Mike Attili's approach for setting up a group that can create team projects.

It's too complex. Is there a central place that could configure all these permissions?
