Team System Beta 2 install error 26105

Encountered the following error message at the very end of the team system server install:

Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation App-Data Tier Beta 2 Setup:

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 26105.
This is a clean single server install following the latest VSTF install guide using a Virtual Server 2005 with a Virtual machine running Windows 2003 Server.

Any recommendations?

We have seen some users encountered the problem with Virtual machines.

Could you try to copy the install source files from the media (or network share) to the physical drive of the Virtual machine and run the setup from the local drive?

Thanks,
Scott

The install source files were on the physical drive of the Virtual machine when this error occured.

Any other suggestions?

Is this a "clean" DB Server? i.e. did you use the DB Server for another Burton Setup before? If so, you have to manually delete all the DBs.

Thanks,
Scott

I have the same error and could not fix it. The install files are on a local drive and the database is clean. The error exists anyway:
"The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with this package. The error code is 26205."
Any suggestions? Kind regards, C. Regenschein

I have the same problem. This is not on a VB and source files are copied onto the server. I get 5 of the 6 databases created before this error is generated. The databases that are created are BISDb, VSTEAMSCC, VSTEAMSCCAdmin, VSTEAMSCCTeamBuild, CurrituckDB.

Please make sure that the dbf and ldf files are also deleted. While the DB's may not be attached or showing, the data files may still be there.

Yes - this was a clean DB install all databases were deleted manually prior to this attempt.

I will try deleting the dbf and ldf files on my next attempt.

Before receiving this error I had the classic 32000 error. It was during the process of attempting to correct that error that the package load problem occured.

I have re-started from scratch several times and am still encountering the 32000 error. Fortunately, I have not seen a repeat of the package load failure. I do have a backed up virtual machine with this error present so I am still interested in any suggestions.

My configuration is the same as outlined in Mikael's post http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=17753.

Thanks again!

Tried again, and now I have seen a repeat of the package load failure error msg!

This time I started completely from scratch using a Virtual Server. I followed the install guide step by step.

Yes - the files were all local when I ran the installs
No - I had not done any previous attempts on this machine.

I have tried the install several times all resulting in either the 32000 or the 26105 errors.

Any suggestions?

For the 32000 error, we need the error information from the VSMSI* file. Also, if the custom error action has any log files associated with it, you will need to send those as well.

Re: Package load failures in Visual Studio 2005 Beta 2, you should take a look at this blog post by Aaron Stebner:

We resolved the problems we were having (See post http://forums.microsoft.com/msdn/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=20753).

Thanks for the Help!
