Visual Studio Beta 2 Install Problem

Hello Friends,

I just attempted to install VS beta 2 and was less than successful, even though I received the success message at the end of the install. When I launched VS, the UI came up and looked fine. However, five instances of a dialog box came up that said Package 'Visual Studio Common IDE Package' has failed to load properly (GUID = {6E87CFAD-4ADF-9CD7-3B7943875B7C}). After clicking away the dialog boxes and selecting "Create Your First Application" a dialog box appeared saying "The operation could not be completed. The RPC server is unavailable."

I would appreciate any help in getting this software working.

Hi,
Did you have installed a previous Version of Visual Studio 2005 before installing Beta 2?
Did those Messages come up directly after starting VS 2005?

Hello Roger,

I did have a previous version of Visual Studio 2005 installed, but uninstalled it before attempting to install Beta 2. The messages come up directly after starting VS 2005.

Did you uninstall Visual Studio Beta 1 following the order listed on the following page:

http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/vs2005/uninstall/

Did you run the following uninstall tool before installing Visual Studio Beta 2?

http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=47065

Hi David,

I started the beta 2 install. A message told me I had some things installed that needed to be removed before beta 2 would be installed. I aborted the installation and removed the things that were listed. I used Wondows' normal uninstall tool, not any special one found at go.microsoft.com. I then attempted to reinstall VS beta 2. At that point I received the behavior noted in my previous posts.

You will probably need to uninstall Beta 2 and then run the uninstall tool listed, then re-install Beta 2.
