BizDesk: Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site file://.....hta
Since we moved our customer's website to a new server the site now gives the following message when entering the editor for a catalog and categories in the bizdesk for a CS 2000 site:
Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet sitefile://C:/..yada yada...com%2080.hta.
Operation aborted.
It's trying to access the HTA file which is right were it should be. The odd thing is that it only happens ONCE for each catalog. Meaning: We have 10 catalogs, if I open the first one it will error, if I then close the BizDesk and open it again it will NOT error on the first catalog ever again for me. However..the second one WILL error...once! ..and everybody else will get it once as well!
And what's really odd..it seems that even after removing the BizDesk icon (add/remove programs) and reinstalling it again, it only errors on the ones you've NEVER done.
I've found 2 other places on the web with people having the same problem, but nobody responded to them.
TIA

Fizz71,
Did you find any solutions ? I have the exact same problem. If you find anything out, please post.
We also moved to a different server. Same box, just different ip.
Thanks.
We found 2 things:
The one specific to this problem was a security issue; we had to add the BizDesk user group we created on the server to the "Widgets" and "BizDesk" directories. The error then went away..what I think happened was the security rights on the site weren't created right and once we locked down the BizDesk it started to error. We have only a handful of users with BizDesk rights and they are all in one of two windows "groups"...it was these groups that did not have the right authority on some of the subdirectories that bizdesk needs (namely "widgets").
The other thing we found along the way was why the "Find" had stopped working...this article on CS 2002 is the exact same problem:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926509
We haven't put it in place yet, but we did check to see that CS 2000 is in fact using the same XML library which is now considered "banned" and has been disabled in IE..hence the dead Find button.
I hope this helps somebody.
