If you are the client, please connect to the Web Service XML on condition that the server host on Linux. However, I think your service is not host on Linux according to your description. Connecting to the Remote server and cross platform refers to the different protocols or even the security configurations.
Are you trying to connect the remote server and access the process or thread? The general question is hard to answer and corss platform is too complecated.
Hope that you can specify your question.
