I have a default instance of msde2000 running with a db i have been using for
a while.

I am trying to use MS Access 2002 to connect to the DB so i can work with
the DB structure, write store procedures, and edit data.

When i create a new Access project with existing data and click File menu and then Connection... the cursor turns to the hourglass for a second or two and then
nothing happens. the database does not lock up and no error is displayed.

For grins i tried to create a new data project with a new database and
during the wizard setup i get an error when i click the "next" button on the
first step. the dialog says "Class Not Registered" After you click through the error
another dialog displays saying the wizard only works with SQL server 6 and
higher

the SQL service manager shows the db is available and i can login into the db with OSQL

Other environs
i have installed SQL Express CTP and Visual Web developer for a look at the
new technology but unistalled it.
i have reinstalled the MSDE exec's several times
i have updated Jet to the latest patch
windows is patched up to the 10/27/2005 date
rebooted 4 million times

I am at the end of my rope...
