hardware compatability

hi i just wanted to pass on some suggestions to the windows vista
software development team.
I've got a canon BJC 5100 printer which worked fine till my pc(which has windows 98) was stolen when I loaned it to a relative, the replacement PC has windows xp and according to canon they will not provide drivers for their printer to work under xp.
A google search showed that Im not alone and that canon simply state they are no longer supporting their product but suggest I try windows 2000 drivers for the printer instead(I've tried and it doesnt work)
I've tried the other suggestions such as using the windows compatability wizard, changing BIOS settings, etc
What Im asking for,(which I think should be simple as XP was based on win 2000 and im assuming windows Vista/longhorn will be based on XP and improving the kernal.)is that Microsofts next version of Windows-Vista(Longhorn) will be compatible and allow me to use my printer again(currently using it on an old laptop and its a great printer which is why im reluctant to bin it)Im asking that windows vista have a generic driver for the Canon BJC 5100 printer,as Vista is still in development.
thankx

Hey gman,

These forums are for developers working on software targeting Vista not for the folks "Developing" Vista. You might want to try

Good Luck
