But it seems so that vista is not supporting it. Is there a driver for the HPT 374 under Vista?

There is no inbox support for Highpoint controllers.
The drivers for this controller would be available from http://www.highpoint-tech.com/ or from the website of your motherboard manufacturer (if it’s an onboard controller).
