Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Release on MSDN Subscriber Downloads (Universal)
Hello everybody,
Today Visual Studio 2005 Professional was released on MSDN Subscriber Downloads. We were unable to find the Team Suite Release.
Any help?
Best regards

If you are an MSDN Universal subscriber, you should see a Visual Studio Team Edition download. That's the one you need. You also need to install the Team Foundation Client Beta 3 that has been out for a while.
However, I would lay off doing that for a while until we know the status of the "Team Foundation Beta 3 Refresh" that was supposed to be coming out at the same time as VS2005 RTM.
Also see
this thread for further discussion.
If there are any Microsofties reading this: We really need some advice about what to do with Visual Studio 2005 RTM and Team Foundation! Should we wait for the Beta 3 Refresh? Or what?
Thanks for answering!
Unfortunately I don't see the download link for this version of Visual Studio. I am sure we are on MSDN Universal though. Do you see it? In which category?
Regards
Ralf
It's in Developer Tools | Visual Studio 2005 | Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Software Developers.
Here's a thought: Did you "transition" your MSDN subscription? If not, see
this link for details. I imagine it may take a while to "transition" your subscription. I did mine weeks ago.
Yes, please wait for TFS Beta 3 Refresh. Migration instructions will be linked to from http://blogs.msdn.com/robcaron.

I transitioned my subscription to universal months ago, and all I see is professional, too.
If you're Universal and have "Transitioned" and you still can't see it - then something must be up. I'd give MSDN Subscriptions Support a ring if I were you...
It appears we have this same problem.. .how long does it take to transition?

(From MSDN chat:)
For a retail subscriber it should be 24-48 hours from transition choice to Xena access to the new level/role. For a Volume Licensing admin to assign a role choice and then the user to get download access should be nearly instantaneous
Microsoft Certified Partners with their ISV competency are supposed to have access to the Team Developer. Subscriber downloads only shows VS 2005 Pro. I've called the Partner Program and MSDN Subscriber services and nobody has a clue.
Is anyone else in the same boat.
Yes we are and it is driving me nuts...
Ditto. There has been precisely zero communication from the Partner people about how to make the transition. There's nothing whatsoever on the Partner site, nothing in the monthly shipments, and no-one at home when you try to call them.
Pathetic, isn't it? I'd be angry, but frankly I expected this.
Puhhhh... I didn't know what I've started when I initiated this thread...
Seems as if things are going a bit wrong at MSDN at the moment. I have written to the EMEA subscription centre and asked to manually transition my subscription. No reaction yet.
If anybody receives a response to this, please post it here. We are all kind of longing for the release...
Best regards
Ralf
Word on the newsgroups is that your transition options are limited by your partner level. I've heard variously that
- Gold partners get Team Developer, no role choice, no upgrade
- Standard partners get Professional only, no Team System at all
- Gold partners with a competency (possibly only ISV) get Team Suite
- Standard partners with a competency (possibly only ISV) get Team Developer
If you ask me, this is unacceptable stratification. Traditionally, the difference between Standard and Gold has been the amount of software, not the level; and the competencies have been about accruing extra points to move up levels, or get specific support from Microsoft on particular projects.
We will have to seriously reconsider our ongoing use of the Microsoft toolset if this is the new Microsoft mindset.
Team Foundation Server Beta 3 will not work with Visual Studio 2005 RTM; you need to use Team Foundation Server Beta 3 Refresh.
I transitioned my MSDN universal subscription on Friday and was able to dowload the products this morning.
