Can't not create team project
Today, I tried to create a new team project from my vsts. I got the following error message:
Error Unable to connect to the Windows SharePoint Services at ppgcmtychatnet1 |
|
Explanation The Project Creation Wizard was not able to connect to the Windows SharePoint Services at ppgcmtychatnet1. The reason for the failed connection cannot be determined at this time. Because the connection failed, the wizard was not able to complete creating the Windows SharePoint Services site. |

User Action Contact the administrator for the Windows SharePoint Services at ppgcmtychatnet1 to confirm that the server is available on the network. Also, you might find additional helpful information in the project creation log. Can I get some more clarification and info?
When you say:
"While the sharepoint service site(Center Admin)and other functionalities of my TFS are working fine at mean while."Are you accessing the Sharepoint Central Admin site from the client machine (and is this a remote machine from the server)?
Can you access the default web site: http://ppgcmtychatnet1/default.aspx
What configuration are you runnning with, and which version of Sharepoint 2.0 do you have, SP1 or SP2?
Thanks,
Thanks for your response.
I am using Sharepoint 2.0 sp2. Double tier configuration.
ppgcmtychatnet1 is my application tier.
http://ppgcmtychatnet1/default.aspx doesn't work now. It says: service unavailable. From my VSTS team client, I can go on executing operation on work item tracking, source control, team build and access report site that is in data tier machine.
Have you previously created a project successfully?
You seem to suggest that you used to be able to access
http://ppgcmtychatnet1/default.aspx. Was this the case, and now it's stopped working?Have you changed the authentication mechanism for the sharepoint default web site and sharepoint central admin to use NTLM (Windows Integrated Auth)?
Can you check that the Sharepoint Timer Service is running and that the Sharepoint app pools are running?
Which process template are you using: Agile or CMMI?
Did you modify the template in any way?
Which user did you use to try and create the new project and to access (what looks like) an existing project? Do they have the appropriate permissions for sharepoint access?
Can you post the project creation log when it fails to create a project please? We might be able to get some more information on the issue from this log.
Can you confirm that you are able to access the sharepoint central admin site (Start->Admin Tools->Sharepoint Central Administration)?
Can you also confirm if you uninstalled and re-installed Sharepoint?
Can you create a team project locally on the Application Tier, rather than remotely from a client tier?
Thanks,
I am having the same problem. All the software components (VS2005,SqlServer2005,TeamFoundationServer, etc..) reside on the same machine. I did not change anything other than installing them. I can go to Sharepoint Central administration with no problem.
Thanks
CZ
Can you post the project creation log please?
Did you re-install Sharepoint?
Does the user running project creation have Sharepoint Central Admin privileges?
Thanks,
