Visual Studio Final and TFS Beta 3

Hi

Will there be any problems building solutions developed in Visual Studio Professional (released today on MSDN) with TFS Beta 3?
Thanks

I was wondering about that. There's no sign of the Team System "Beta 3 Refresh", and also no RTM of SQL Server 2005 other than Developer Edition (as far as I can see).
I'm going to try installing the VS Team Edition RTM on a sacrifical PC - I'll let you know how it goes. Wink

Thanks

Is it reasonable to think that since TFS Build uses MSBuild, you could use the same MSBuild ver. that comes with VS RTM and configure it to use the latest Framework version? In this case, would it basically be the same to build with TFS Build as in VS RTM?

Hmm, I don't know the answer to that question.
However, I have now installed the Visual Studio Team Edition RTM, followed by the Team System Client Beta 3 (the one that has been available for a few weeks, not the currently non-existant "beta 3 refresh").
Having done that, I can successfully connect to our existing Team Foundation Server (Beta 3 version), which I have not changed at all.
So, that seems to work.
BUT! What I don't know is what will happen when the Team System Beta 3 Refresh comes out. Will I need to uninstall Visual Studio to install the Refresh, or can I just install the Refresh over the top?
I it's a reinstall job, I'll not bother installing the VS RTM until Team System Beta 3 Refresh is out. Otherwise I'll just end up wasting lots of time.
Are there any MS bods there that know the answers to these questions?

Hi,
I would recommend you to wait for the TFS Beta3 Refresh relase which should be out soon.

Since Team Explorer is an add-in to Visual Studio, I guess it will just overwrite it when installing the refresh client. So, hopefully no uninstall is needed..

Visual Studio has released the final version (not a Beta). Team Foundation Server Beta 3 has also been released.

I see a "Visual Studio Team Suite Trial Edition" on the MSDN download site (posted today). Is that the Beta 3 refresh? Will there be a non expiring edition posted?

The Team Suite Trial Edition is the full set of role based (Developer, Tester, Architect) client side tools for Team System. It however does not include the client or server bits for the Team Foundation Beta3 refresh. You can find these bits in the "Visual Studio 2005 - Pre-production" folder.

Hope that helps,
jeff
