Installing VS 2005 with SQL Server 2005 RC1

Hi all,

I have installed Sql Server 2005 RC1 on a Win 2003 machine. It also installed BIDS alongwith it.

Now i need to install VS 2005. I have got VS 2005 Beta 2 DVD.

But while installing it, it also tries to install .NET Framework 2.0 Beta, which fails because SQL Server 2005 RC1 has already installed .NET Framework 2.0

Is there any solution for this?

Thanks in advance.

Hi.

1) Stop SQL services and avoid running something of SQL until you are done.
2) Write down you .NET Framework version
3) Remove .NET Framework
4) Install VS
5) If framework you removed in 2. has a higer version number than the one you have installed with VS (should have), deinstall .NET framework and install the framework from "SQL Server\Tools\redist\2.0"

This could take some time...

The version of SQL you have installed on your machine does not work with the version of VS you're trying to install.

The latest versions that work together are the RC versions of VS 2005 and SQL or the released versions (currently available to MSDN subscribers).

The best thing to do is to either uninstall SQL before install VS, or install the matching RC or final released versions.
