And the long answer is? You seem to be implying that the long answer is maybe or unknown.
It seems silly to limit .net developers to using old activex connection dialogs when a perfectly good one is available with visual studio.
The most perplexing part of this limitation is that the dlls are freely available as part of Visual Studio Express. So I can redistribute them but by getting my customers to install Visual Studio?
Is there a reason or rationale for this limitation?
