Templates
After a successful upgrade from WSS 2.0 to 3.0 - I am trying to add templates to site. Adding the templates seems to work however when I try to create a new page using them they are not available to select from. Below are the steps I followed to add the templates and how I am trying to access them. Everything below works except for "Selecting the Application Template" when creating a new site - they are not available to select.

To upload the extracted template files to the WSS 3.0 server
1. | In a browser window, open the top-level WSS 3.0 site where you want to upload the extracted templates, and then clickSite Settings. |
2. | On the Site Settings page, underGalleries, clickSite templates. |
3. | On the Site Template Gallery page, clickUpload. |
4. | On the Upload Template page, clickUpload Multiple Files. |
5. | On the Upload Document page, in the left pane, navigate to the location where you saved the templates. |
6. | In the right pane, select the check box next to each template you want to upload, and then clickOK. |
7. | On the Site Template Gallery page, to change the name, title, or description of the template, click theEdit icon next to the template title. |
8. | On the Edit Item page, change the default value in theName,Title, orDescriptionbox, and then clickOK. |
The templates are uploaded and appear in the site template gallery.
To create a new site using the application template
1. | In a browser window, open a SharePoint site in which the application template is available in the site template gallery. |
2. | ClickSite Actions, and then clickCreate. |
3. | In theWeb Pages section, clickSites and Workspaces. |
4. | Complete the information for the new site, selecting the application template from theTemplate Selection list, and then clickCreate. |
