MOSS Navigation

Hi everyone,

I wanna ask a question about Sharepoint navigation.

How can we achieve 3-4 level navigation for publishing sites? Navigation provides only 2 levels, a Heading and a Link at most. I created subsites wherever I need a sub level. Is that the way?

Note that, I customized CurrentNav component in master page to show StaticLevel of 4.

Secondly and more important,

In our project, we created a top publishing site.Said that "you'll show only below items". And created a few subsites. Said all of them to "show below items and siblings". Then we created "inner sites" in subsites and added pages to these "inner sites". For navigation, I said to "inner sites" that they'll "show as parent".

By this design I thought each subsite will remain open in navigation.

TopSite

SubSite1

InnerSite1

Page1

Page2

InnerSite2

Page3

SubSite2

InnerSiteX

Page4

InnerSiteY

Page5

When I click wherever in SubSite1, it must remain open, SubSite2 must collapse. And vice versa.

Problem is; inner sites supposed to show navigation as Subsite (because subsite is parent) but they act as TopSite.Subsites work fine, show only below items and siblings. But Innersites show all tree. Inner sites supposed to work as parent, which are subsites, but they work as TopSite.

Any bug, reason? What's wrong with design?

Thanks..

Anybody,

Please make this site design in 2 minutes and say it's the same or not.

Create TopPublishingSite (navigation - show below only)

Create Subsite1 (navigation - show below and siblings)

Create Innersite (navigation - show as parent)

Create Subsite2 (navigation - show below and siblings)

Create a Page

When I click Subsite1, works fine, shows below and sibling (Subsite2) /* hides Subsite2 content */

But when I click Innersite, it shows all tree. Why? Its parent is Subsite1, but it doesnt show navigation as Subsite1.

Please confirm,

Thanks...
