Site Actions missing in the main page

I have a list of employees information in a HR Sharepoint site. Is there a way making the sharepoint automatically assign permissions to people in the list?

Help would be appreciated.

I would recommend having a group in your AD that reflects the employees from a security perspective... You would most likely want to use this group in quite a few places on your network. Then use that group to set permissions on the site.

That's the cleanest way i know to do i from an Administrative perspective. Then you simply manage the membership of hte Security group in AD.

Without writing code, I can't think of a way to accomplish what you are after.

hi guys,

need your help. i already completed doing a page with quick launch and links (just a simple site). when i was working with the permissions, i accidentally deleted groups (i dont have any idea) that caused me not to see the SITE ACTION menu in the main page.

How shall i return those permissions knowing that I cant edit it anymore (no SITE ACTION menus anymore). It looks like i became a read only member.

I hope you can help me guys. Im just a newbie....

If you lok at the Markup in the Master Page for the site, you will notice that there are some security assertions made in the MSterPage to limit what folks see what in regards to the SiteAction Menu. Not knowing exactly WHAT you did when you say "You deleted some groups" I would say that I don't have enough infomration to help you ...

Can you create another site and if so, does it have the SiteActions Menu ?

If Not, Can you create a new Site Collection, New Site and does IT have the menu..

My Thought is that you deleted one of the built in groups and then created a new group to replace it. If you did, you will have to make sure your new group have the appropriate permissions ont he Objects or else the security trimming of the Menu will prevent your account from seeing it.

Hope that helps a bit
