Vista protected copying rmt9x.mst from setup.exe ?![]()
Do you mean you tried copying it over but windows stopped you form copying over the rmt9x.mst file?
We tried to reproduce this on the same Vista build and it worked on our machines.
Same problem here... It is definitly not a bad file problem. Other things I've tried... logging on as the built in administrator and disabling every Defender, UAP and security setting I could find.
I'm running Vista 32 Bit (newer build than 5270, but don't think I'm allowed to say which build)
Vista Build 5270 and VS 2003 .NET Architect. I'm going to try and copy the file off another PC and see if it works.
(btw, i'm posting from firefox because IE 7 restarts after logging in to Passport. ;) )
I have the same problem with the final version of Vista Business (VLK).
I never got "Virtual CD-ROM Control Panel for Windows XP" to work on any build of Vista, so I didn't try it with the final version. I had previously used Virtual Clone Drive 5.1.4.5 (that's my favorite mounter - double click the ISO and go!), but although it appears to work for SOME software on Vista, e.g. I was able to install Office 2007 Enterprise Edition, it must have some bugs with Vista because I could NOT install Visual Studio 2005 Team Edition for Developers. I got the error you describe here. I tried MountISO also with the same problem. I also tried copying the ISO locally and tried manually copying all the files from the ISO and had the same problem. So I stumbled across this link (http://www.mohundro.com/blog/PermaLink,guid,865fcaca-d9e4-4bba-a92f-32a68685a9c3.aspx) and gave it a try. After uninstalling Virtual Clone Drive I rebooted for kicks and then installed Daemon Tools V4.08HE (32-bit). Be sure to UNCHECK the Search Tools option to avoid the spyware (unless you WANT the spyware ;-).
Anyway, it seems to work - it got past the point where the others were failing and VS.NET 2005 is installing now.
Hi,
Thanks for all your solutions. I got the basic idea of how to go forward.
I was getting the same error ( " cannot copy Rmt9x.mst file " while copying the files to temp folder. I rectified it by copying the 'setup' folder' to my local and re-running the setup.exe from local itself.
Now to install the application fully, i ran the setup from the DVD / network but after few intital steps, got 1316 : network error stating can't find vs_setup.msi.. .
From here one there are two approaches, "either locate the missing file in DVD/network, copy it in windows installer and click on re-try" or "copy the full visual studio installtion package into local (e.g. C
rive) and re-run the setup".
I followed the later and got my VS 2005 successfully installed.
Thanks & Regards,
Praful
