Hi - I'm trying to install tfpt.msi on my machine (I have admin rights). Getting an error. Here is the verbose msi log. Any ideas? This is running on XP SP2.

Thanks for any info.

When I click "Debug" after the failure, this code is shown:

Set oWmi = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}!\\.\root\cimv2")

Not exactly getting overwhelmed with replies here. Anybody have any suggestions?

I recommend closing all running instances of VS and retry the install. Another thing to try is to download the msi again in case of download data corruption.

Hope this helps. -Tan

Thanks for the suggestions - I tried both of those things several times before posting this message.

Anyone else?

Thanks for any info.

Please try the following

1. Make sure that you are an admin user

2. Don't run the msi from a network share. Instead copy to a local location and run from there.

Hope these helps. -Tan

I am the admin of the machine and I was running locally. I install software on my machine all the time. I have never had this type of problem with an install.

You would think someone would notify the developers of the install package of the problem and they could get it fixed. There is a bug in the installer.

It may be possible that vbscript is disabled on your machine. Make sure setup and VS are not running and try the following:

regsvr32 c:\windows\system32\vbscript.dll

(replace c:\windows with whatever drive/path applies to your machine)

Rerun setup.

Ed - Thanks for the suggestion - I really appreciate everyone's help. I made sure neither VS or the setup was running. I did the regsvr command but still get the same error.

The error code in winerror.h has the following meaning.

# for decimal -2147319779 / hex 0x8002801d
TYPE_E_LIBNOTREGISTERED winerror.
# Library not registered.

So, please first make sure service 'Windows management Instrumentation' is started and running. Then please try to paste the debug output of the vbscript ( or code piece below) into a notepad and name it test.vbs. Run test.vbs on your commandline. It should throw the same error. See if you can get more detailed messages. Otherwise, use command 'eventvwr' to start the event log and search for errors during the execution of the vbs file. Especially library load errors.

Let us know what you find.

Thanks,

Pei

Can you try the new version (1.2) of tfpt to see if it behaves differently on install?
