TFS SP1 fails to install on build server
Hi All,
I'm attempting an upgrade of my TFS installation and the SP1 patches fail when I run them on my build servers. A dialog pops with the following:
"The upgrade patch cannot be installed by the Windows Installer service because the program to be upgraded may be missing, or the upgrage patch may update a different version of the program. Verify that the program to be upgraded exists on your computer and that you have the correct patch."
So is TFS SP1 (VS80sp1-KB926738-X86-ENU.msp) supposed to run on the build servers? If not then the "TFSInstall-v61230.chm" needs to be updated because it indicates to do install the patch.
Shawn
Shawn,
The patch you refer to should install on a build server. Can you run the tool from the following link and send me the results?
http://www.huydao.net/setup/msiinv.zip
The command line should be: msiinv.exe -p > MsiInventory.txt
Thanks,
Ed
Just to keep the thread up to date:
I've sent the file, here is the entry for the build server install:

I have the same problem. I have a clean install of XP with SP2 and with the build server. I receive the same error when I attempt to install SP1.
I have not come upon a solution.
Make sure to check the known issues blog post from Brian.
