Client to Client

Currently we are in the process of developing an application that has two parts: A)desktop version B)mobile version. Both versions use sqlce 3.x but we are trying to figure out a way for these two versions to sync data. Is type of scenario in the plans or are we crazy?

We don't need the extra power of sql express so we would like to stay with sqlce.

Thanks

The Current release of Sync Service doesn't support client to client synchronizations. both forementioned scenarios are on our list for consideration for future releases.

Are they are something you are looking for now or a request for the near future ?

thanks

Hoping for sooner rather then later but that is pretty much always true

One of the beautiful things about the MS Sync Services Framework is that you can rebuild the portions that don't work for your solution. For example in this case the part that isn't working is the server provider (ie you need to consider one of your instances as a client and the other as a server - both running SQL CE). In effect what you can do is rebuild the server provider to keep the "server" sqlce database in sync

Hope this helps.

We have the same need. Seems like a common use case for consumer mobile app market. Many top consumer apps provide a desktop version along with the mobile version and offer data synchronization between the two.

Will try the approach posted by Nick. Any thoughts on when this capability might be offered as part of the standard solution?

It is kind of too early to see when the solution will be avaiable. but we'll post it out when it is ready. so stay tuned...

and, nice comments Nick.
