Installation of March CTP self-extracing fails
with
[03/10/07,08:30:21] setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent::Pre/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager::InternalInstallManager() with HRESULT -2147023293.
(on the Orcas component, Document Explorer 2007, which is the only one before, succeeds)
I can't find any info about this result, where is the problem?
Running Vista, Studio 2005 installed, Orcas January CTP uninstalled.
I also get studio 2005 in bad state, snippets does not work, neither web debugging works.

By the way, when I want to view the log from the installation window (Finish Page), an error messagebox appears:
Cannot find ...:/Program%20Files/Microsoft%20Visual%20Studio%209.0/Microsoft%20Visual%20Studio%... Make sure the path or Internet address is correc.
Hi, I have everything uninstalled (SQL 2005 as well) except the 2005 version of studio, but it did not helped. The Orcas component fails quite quickly. I will probably have to reinstall whole computer because of the mess with Orcas... and try Orcas as the only version.
I had the same error on Windows Vista, with VS2005 and SQL2005 installed, and a previous Orcas CTP "uninstalled". What worked for me was completely deleting the Visual Studio 9.0 folder, which wasn't deleted with regular Orcas uninstaller. After deleting the folder, installation went through without problems.

Hi, I tried to uninstall 2005 studio as well. I have no Visual Studio 9 folder and the install still fails. However, this time the log link works and log contains:
[03/10/07,03:27:55] Microsoft Visual Studio Codename Orcas Team Suite - ENU: [2] 1: Suite Integration Toolkit Executable 2: Suite Integration Toolkit Executable (Process Id: 2700) 3: Windows Explorer 4: Windows Explorer (Process Id: 844) [03/10/07,05:23:11] MSDN Library for Visual Studio Codename Orcas: [2] 1: Suite Integration Toolkit Executable 2: Suite Integration Toolkit Executable (Process Id: 5480) [03/10/07,05:23:41] VS70pgui: [2] CFinishPage::UpdateFinal(): Could not find the readme.htm in the client directory as expected! ***EndOfSession***
Hi,
because current Virtual PC is not supported on Vista.
Nevermind, thank you for your answers, I've reinstalled computer and installation of Orcas proceeded without problems.

Actually, Virtual PC 2007 support Vista as a Host and as a guest OS. However, using VPC image may not be the best idea to experience Orcas in full, since it has Orcas and VS2005 co-installed, together with SQL2005, which creates some compatibility issues, because Orcas is not yet ready for side-by-side installation with other VS products.
