Sharepoint Services 3.0 Templates

Are templates from the Sharepoint Services 3.0 group fully compatible with Sharepoint Server 2007?

If so, here is the problem...

Sharepoint Server 2007 installed, functional and working... Login as Administrator, go to Site Actions -> Site Settings -> Modify All Site Settings -> Galleries -> Site Templates and Upload

I upload the Inventory Tracking template (the WPS file) and it shows in the list of templates... However, when I select to create a new site, the template does not show up in the list of available templates... In fact, there is no custom tab...

Am I missing something or does anyone have a suggestion?

Running 2K3R2 SP2

Thanks

Hi,

From your post above it seems as if you are trying to install one of the latest site templates which are the Server admin templates. These templates once downloaded are actually SharePoint solution files with extension .WSP. These templates are not like the previous templates the Site Admin templates that came as .STP files and could simply be uploaded into the Site Template gallery. The server admin templates must be deployed by using the STSADM tool. My fellow MVP Dustin Miller has a great set of instructions for installing the server templates.

Go check out his instructions here: http://sharepointblogs.com/dustin/archive/2007/02/22/19834.aspx

This should help you!

Thanks for the info... Didn't realize the stsadm has to be used... Once I loaded it through there, everything was functional...

Thanks again...

Hi, is there any way to modify the template? Because i'm trying to do that as any sharepoint site, but elements are not customizable.

Hey way to9 go Microsoft take something that was fairly simple and overcomplicate it. also the link you provided does not work you need to "sign up" but when you try to sign up the button does not work.
