Search results customisation

Hi,

My search founds match in the text of a document and returns a link directly to this document. Therefore users can download them immediately and skip reading all important properties.

I would like search return link not to the document but to display form for this document. Could you advise how I can reach this result?

Thanks,

Ir_Vin

I'm having the exact same problem. This makes the search engine totally useless for the majority of our users. WSS 2.0 did this much better by displaying a link to the ITEM and not directly to the document itself. Now it opens up Word in the browser but without anyway of modifying it or saving it to the location it was opened from.

This is still proving to be a huge problem for our implementation of WSS 3.0. I still havent found a solution, does anyone have any ideas? Would switching to MOSS Search change this behaviour?

Solution is in customization of Search Core Results XSL.

Just need to parse link to the document and replace it with link to $sitename+$doclibrary+/forms/dispform.aspx?id=$id

The search core results web part is only available in MOSS. Is it also possible to edit the xsl stylesheet of the default WSS search results? If so where can I find this xsl stylesheet.

Hi Ir_Vin,

I'm looking for exactly what you describe as "the solution" ;-)

However, I can't get it to work

In the XSL of the CoreResults-WP, I can find the $site for each document, but not the $doclibrary... nor the $id

could you give me some extra info? or and example?

and what configuration have you done in the Shared Services Provider?

TIA for your info

regards, Tom

XSL core results is only available in MOSS or can it also be found somewhere in WSS?

Bump*

Someone must have some idea on how to change this behaviour in WSS 3.0 without resorting to installing MOSS or Sharepoint Search?
