Unique constraint on multiple columns

I have a unique constraint on two columns in a typed dataset. I've looked in the designer code and it is there. But nothing happens when it is violated. The single column unique constraints are fine. Anyone have this problem before? Any suggestions? TIA.

Correction, the single column unique constraints work on all other tables in the dataset but this one.
