Hi,
I think the problem is that you don't have a mySite host site.
When you go to central administration, shared service provider, mySite settings you see the second setting: Personal Site Services.
This has to point to a "personalization" site you created.
So I think your setting point to the wrong URL, or you haven't created a personalization site. You can do so by creating a site under your portal, and select enterprise templates, personalization site.
Fred
can i just point the personal site services to a web application? so far, im not having problem to create mysite from a web application (default - http://ika/). i just unable to view "my profile" and my colleague page.
If i cant, where am i supposed to create the personalization page? do i have to create the personalization site after i create a site collection?
By the way i already try to create personalization site under http://ika/personalization...then i point the personal site services to this particular page.but it still not working.
I am also getting the same error. MySite works and I can edit profiles, but the profile display page (person.aspx) as well as the userdisp.aspx page for all users cannot be found. The only exception I can find is that the userdisp.aspx page for the NT AUTHORITY\local service account does work.
Thanks in advance!
yar..i have no idea why it point to person.aspx..... it happened to all users also. i u get any idea...please let me know.
thanks a lot
I"m having the exact same problem. I followed Frederik's advice, and it doesn't change anything. If someone has any suggestions, please help!
I too have the same problem. I have checked that the profile records are there but it does not seem to pick up the person.aspx page. Even deleting the my sites and the profiles and trying again doesn't work but it recreates the profile but still cannot find person.aspx.
This will probably not help you but your post and another helped me and I was in a similiar scenario.
My workaround was to "import" through SharePoint Designer to the root a file located @ <InstallDrive>:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\SiteTemplates\SPSMSITEHOST\person.aspx. All then worked.
I think the issue on my side was I didn't use a standard collaboration site as my top level site. It was a publishing site template. Either there's a missing file in the template or we shouldn't use publishing sites as a top level site. When I compared non-publishing "team" sites against my publishing site, that was the major difference. Not sure what else I'll need to import but we'll see.
Hope this helps and thanks for pointing the way on my problem.

hi frederik...
You were right...i don have a mysite host previously. Now its already working. I created a sharepoint site by using mysite host template and configure mysite setting to point to that site. then its working!!
thank you very much!
regards,
ika
This has solved my problem. It seems you have to create a new site collection within the same SSP using the mysite host template. You would have thought that without doing this creating mysite would fail altogether but the only symptom is no profile page, the rest of it works fine.
Many thanks
I had that same issue and imported the person.aspx page in and it solved my issue. Bizarre. I can't figure out why that was an issue. The mysite and admin sites were on the same collection and I had the Mysite pages off the root of the main sharepoint site instead of being redirected to a sub collection, but it still should have worked. It worries me that this fixed it. It also fixed my mysite search issues now that the pages can be found.
Hi!
This is the solution when in following set-up situation;
- Intranet portal w/ portal log-in
- MySite enabled
- Same web application for both portal web site and My Site.
In order to make this work you must create the web application and the site collection for the portal site before you define what web application My Site will have.
The procedure above will make 'person.aspx' to vanish, even though it has not. To put it back (or re-link); use SharePoint Designer to import person.aspx from c:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\web server extensions\12\TEMPLATE\SiteTemplates\SPSMSITEHOST\person.aspx to the top of your portal site.

The problem I now have after doing this is that teh mysites on our portal continue to use the top level quick launch bar instead of the person mysite profile quick launch bars. Anyone else experience this?
Great Help in here!
I had exactly the same problem, and my error was created the site collection without choosing "My Site" template in Enterprise tab.
By the way, this happen because i wanted to change the language of MySite!
