Shared service1 for search settings showing access denied in central administration

Hi,

I have got administrator privilege for the sharepoint server 2007 but when i try to access the shared service1 for search settings it gives me the error as 'access denied '. I checked every possbile way. I even reset my password on the IIS/application pool as an administrator on which the sharepoint 2007 is hosted.

Plz let me know why this is happening or is there any work around to access this service.
