connecting sharepoint to SSAS

What is the best way of connecting sharepoint KPI list to SSAS KPI. Currently i am using ODC file which i generate using+Connect to New Data Source.odc link which opens an office doc and a wizard to let me connect to the SSAS engine. Then i save this file and upload in the data connection library of sharepoint. This process seems to be very cumbersome and bad in terms of maintainability.

IFF ODC file itself is the best\only way of doing so then is there any other automated way of generating the ODC file instead of using the+Connect to New Data Source.odc link to enhance the maintainability of the whole process and decrease manual dependency ?
