KN Client find people does not work

After a couple of initial teething issues, KN is installed and appears to work , here comes the however. When clicking on the sys tray icon for the KN client and selecting Find internal or external people, the following loads, but it is jus a blank page, no errors etc

http://knhome/_vti_bin/KnowledgeNetwork/DiscoverKIServer.aspx?redirect=internalsearch

KN home is the top level site

Any suggestions on what I may have missed, I have tried specifying the default search according to the suggested details under my site, however this gives a page can not be displayed instead, nothing in the box gives a blank page

Not sure Steve, would have to look inside your setup to really see what the issue is... it could be search itself...

Any wierd events poping up in your event log? I currently dont have access to a KN environment to poke around but if I have some down time next week I could possibly work with you on this via Remote session or Live meeting.

Bob,

There are no weird popups. I have recreated the site, with searchpages with tabs. Search pages are there, it finds external people. With random internal people I get the following.

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at System.Xml.XmlNode.RemoveChild(XmlNode oldChild) at Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.WebControls.PeopleCoreResultsWebPart.DeleteElementAddToMyColleaguesURL(XmlNode result) at Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.WebControls.PeopleCoreResultsWebPart.CreateXmlDocument() at Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.WebControls.PeopleCoreResultsWebPart.SortBySocialDistance() at Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.WebControls.PeopleCoreResultsWebPart.GetXPathNavigator(String viewPath
Any ideas? I

Steve

I did manage to fix it. The issue is down to the people search scope, which seemed to have disappeared, which is actually part of the Sharepoint install. I have another server with Sharepoint 2007 and no Knowledge network and copied this scopes.

Thanks Steve for your prompt response. I have the "people scope" but I still ran into this issue. It doesn't seem to index anything from SSP. It throws generic exception without much help

Have you tried resetting the crawled content, then doing a full crawl?
