A little trouble installing Visual Studio
I downloaded the .img files from manual instalations page because i don't have a very good internet connections and i extracted the files from the .img files to a directory. I can't run either setup.exe and IxpXX.exe (XX=VB,VC,VCS,VJ,VWD) because i get an error like this:
Setup.exe = "A problem has been encountered while loading the setup components. Canceling setup"
IxpXX.exe = Files cannot be found in Localsettings\temp\IXPXXX.tmp alot of them (i tryed to copy them there from the instalation folder but useless)
I have Sempron 3100+ on Asus K8V-X, 512 RAM, HDD 120, NV GF 4 MX 440
OS: Windows XP 2002 + SP2 + Updates (till 26.10.2005)
AV: NOD32 2.51.8 (Daily Update)
Installed Apps required (i think)
Windows Installer 3.1
dotnet 2.0
If u want more info about my pc & software installed i can give it to u.
PS: I don't have other version installed (i have Visual Studio 2003 Trial but is not installed), and i tryed to download twice the .img files i thought maybe it's something corrupted when i download it but still useless.
Hi,
Try completely removing all previous versions of the Framework using
Add/Remove programs from the control panel, remove any other Express Edition you may have installed too.
Are you using any FULL version of Visual Studio too?

This is the Visual Express 2005 installer that asks what you want to download and install:
http://www.gfxnode.com/vbsetup.exe
(please remeber to
always scan files you download, even from a good source)
Run the installer and it'll ask you to, and help you, uninstall all previous versions of express 2005 - then you can start a fresh download and install.
If you have internet connection issues (ie a dropping line) and need the base install files to be fully uploaded in split RAR archives, let me know and I'll see if I can do that for you.
Hope this helps,
Seith
darksoulcrawling,
i know this is an old thread here but i though i would give some input on it in case you did not get it to work
or maybe it will help someone else
I had an issue with the .img when i tried to extract and then install the professional trial
I renamed the .img to .iso and then burned to a dvd. after that, no problems
You can also download the .iso of vb express directly then burn to a cd with burning software.
Don't just add the file to a disk, you need a utility like nero or sonic recornow and it will automatically extract the files and burn to the disk.
