Yup. There should be no problem with side by side installations. The document that you read referes to pre-release products which are the beta 2 or the CTP's. But if your copy is RTM (release) then you can install it side by side...

The document is referring to pre-release products.
In the machine I am using now Visual Basic Express, Visual C# Express, Visual J# Express, Visual Web Developer Express and Visual C++ Express are all installed at the same time
