setup cancels without further notice

When trying to run setup.exe for c++ express, setup displays "loading installtion components, this may take a minute or two". After some minutes setup suddenly stops without further notice. In temp-dir I found dd_vserror80.txt containing the following line "[12/03/05,23:37:31] setup.exe: [2] ISetupModule::SetManager() failed in ISetupManager::LoadSetupObjectGuid() : vs_setup.dll".

Same Error with c# and basic express. Any idea?

I figured it out. Download and burn the iso image to a cd and install it that way.

Tried your suggestion, downloaded and burned cd, but it didn't help. When running setup.exe from cd same error as network install. Again install cancels without message and the only trace of an error is left in temp dir in dd_vsinstall80.txt and dd_vserror80.txt.

After reading the problems other people had with kaspersky antivirus http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=126688&SiteID=1 I uninstalled that as suggested and now the installation went through both network and cd!

Just for curiosity I installed c++ and c# without kaspersky on board after that I reinstalled kaspersky and tried to install visual basic express. This hangs as before. Neither disabling kaspersky nor fiddling around with its settings helped. You really have to uninstall it.
