AspNetAccessProvider missing from Vis.web.developer config Manager(Web Site Administration Tool)

I am trying to set up theAspNetAccessProviderIn Configuration Manager (Web Site Administration Tool) but it is impossible. This option is not available and the only available is the sqlNetProvider.
Additionally I am reading in help files that I may add a new provider trough Conf. Manager tool, but in my case it is impossible.
Finally I was wondering if it is possible to re-install this feature....
Can someone help me in that?

Hi Dimitris,

You can download the starter kit that expands the Access providers at the bottom of this page:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/starterkits/

Just wish I'd found this before I went through the hassle of writing my own provider class.

Hi!

Thanks for asking! I'm a member of the ASP.NET team, and was just popping over here to see what was going on. The best place to ask ASP.NET questions is over on the ASP.NET forums at http://www.asp.net/welcome.aspx?tabindex=1&tabid=39

There is more info about providers and the provider model at http://msdn.microsoft.com/asp.net/downloads/providers/ and it's a good place to start to get more info!

HTH,

Hello! thanks for your mail...
I tried the ASP forums and I am still waitting for a reply. I am affraid that this is not a common requirement and may be a llittle knowledge about Providers and how to set up them.I also red the articles you advised but there was not so easy for me to understand cause I am new in .Net and all these are too complicated to me.
Could you please advise how should I use the downloadable example with Access provider in order to set it up in my vis.web.developer ?

Thanks in advance

Dimitris

Hello Pete!

Do you know if the AspNetAccess provider is back in the RTM of Visual Studio 2005?

i know it was removed in beta2, if it not is back kan i migrate it back from beta1?

i know there is a sample accessproviders but they are written in c# (and poorly described) and im typing in VB, i beleive it would be great to have access to that provider and it cannot be hard for MS to add this functionality via a addon package?

I have just finished course 3201B developing web apps.
Impressed with the feature of MS saving us a lot of work which has to do with users, logon and roles, but tonight MS let me down. There is no code available for the VB programmer, also there is no option to choose MS-Access as the provider.

Having downloaded the vwd 2005, samples and generally spended my time on forums to find a satisfying answer was a big waste of time. Which i had better spend upgrading my own writting role managing system.

I'am very disappointed in MS.

Has anyone found a resolution to this or does the Vis.web.developer's, ASP.NET Site Administration tool just not contain a "Add new provider link" as stated in the tutorial located at http://msdn.microsoft.com/sql/express/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnsse/html/vwd_sse.asp ?
