During Developer Update (Mississauga, Canada)I got very enthusiastic about Office Live offering but when I tried to use it and sign up for trial version Premium edition I found out that I cannot use it because it’s only available in USA. I must admit that I am very disappointed with that.
How can I try it?
Office Live is currently not only in the US, but also UK, France, Germany and Japan. We are planning to expand into other markets in the not to distant future (FY08). We have received feedback about Canada before, so it is defintely on the consider list, but that's about all I can say at this stage.
In the meantime, if you have a payment instrument (such as credit card) from one of these countries, you can get an Office Live account.

To offer this in the US and not in Canada makes no sense, I can't imagine the effort to extend this to Canada would be extensive, any real reasoning behind why Microsoft has choosen to ignore us and eliminate the oppertunity to capture this market as well?

Definitely not ignoring you! I'm Canadian too and can't wait until we can get into the Canadian market! We need to ensure we handle the bilingual rules first.
