can the wds team please acknowledge the OE bug, it is easy to reproduce

Can easily be reproduced on a fresh XP sp2 install.

When indexing an Outlook Express store with a Hotmail account (http mail, not pop), if you leave OE running, after a little while searchprotocolhost.exe will pop up the following error message box:

Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to open the Outlook Express message store. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance. (0×80004005, 183)

When the hotmail http account is removed the error goes away. The error may happen for other reasons, but the OE hotmail integration is definitely one cause.

Am getting the same error message and have hotmail account. This error message just began in the past two weeks, so must be a recent winupdate fix...

This bug has been fixed in the 3.01 release. Please update your WDS to version 3.01.

It has not been fixed in 3.01. Please try the following directions.

1) Load an XP sp2 image

2) Start OE and add a hotmail account, load the account folders

3) do a send / receive to download the inbox messages, close OE

3) Install WDS 3.01 (WindowsDesktopSearch-KB917013-V301-XP-x86-enu.exe)

4) Check "Index Now" on the WDS tray icon ( this will force the error faster)

5) Start OE and wait a while

6) You should get the error
