Popfly crashes my computer!

Yesterday and today when I tried to use Popfly it literally crashed my computer (IBM T41 Thinkpad laptop). It actually caused the laptop to power off! No blue screen -- just a dark screen. This happened in both Firefox 2.0.0.3 and IE 6. The funny thing is that I used Popfly last week for about an hour with no problems. Now it crashes the first time I try to drag a block to the design surface.

Any ideas?

I've never seen Popfly crashing a computer.

Are you on Windows XP SP2?

Does this reproduce every time you try to use the mashup creator?

It may be that your installation of Silverlight is corrupted or that there's an IE plugin that's interfering with it. Are you running any IE plugins or add-ons?

Finally, have you tried uninstalling and re-installing Silverlight from http://www.silverlight.net?

I chatted with some folks on the Silverlight team today and the consensus is that neither Popfly nor Silverlight can really do this by itself. What's probably happening is that there's a visual effect we're triggering that's calling some part of your video driver that's causing the system to crash. Have you changed your video drivers recently? Or, alternately, have you looked for updates to them recently? Do you get this if you use the generic video driver?

Yes, that makes more sense and seems easier to try out. I've been busy lately and playing with popfly, while fun, has been a low priority. I'll attempt to try out these suggestions in the next few days and let you know what I find. Thanks! -- Nick
