How to run designer in Orcas and vista x64
Hello
I have fresh vista x64 and fresh orcas beta 1 installed - everything is ok instead of forms designer - when I am trying to load it it shows a message :
The service Microsoft.VisualStudio.Shell.Interop.ISelectionContainer already exists in the service containter. Parameter name: serviceType
Did you met this before ? Please give me some advice. THanks for any help
I am having the same issue, also running Vista x64, and I would appreciate any help! I have read other threads regarding a similar issue in Vista 32-bit, and I have tried implimenting the suggestions that were posted there to no avail.
I have found an solution:
orcas = your orcas installation files dir
Open orcas/WCU/dotNetFramework/dotNetMSP/x64 then install :
Windows6.0-KB110806-x64
Windows6.0-KB929300-x64
Windows6.0-KB930264-x64
In this order. Then restart your pc and all should be good - have fun
I think you can find all of them here http://thehotfixshare.net/download/index.php?dir=Pre-Release/
Don't knew if it will work because I have proffesional version of Orcas.
Please let us all knew if it works.
I am also having the same issue.
I tried uninstalling/reinstalling the professional version of the latest Beta 1.
I also tried uninstalling that and installing the team version instead, still get the error.
I reported the issue to Microsoft Connect and they immediately replied back that they weren't going to bother doing anything about it because it doesn't affect their computers.
Very frustrating.
Well I found that bug report, and said I can confirm it...so at least you have that.
Obviously if its not fixed for the real release...they'll have a bit of a problem on their hands I'm sure.
