Missing Orders in commerce 3.0 site

Hello,

I am using Commerce Server 3.0. I have an incremental auto-number column added to the 'Receipt' table. Every time an order is placed this number is automatically added in an incremental fashion. Now my problem is that every so often I'll have some numbers missing from this table. To me this indicates that some records (orders) were added and then removed for some reason. It appears to happen quite randomly. We are getting quite worried thinking that we might be missing some potential orders. Can anyone help please? I can provide more details if needed.

We are experiencing something very similar in Commerce Server 2002. We are actually finding the issues after a successful credit card authorization is sent out, then the order just vaporizes. We are trying to catch errors around the whole process, but literally nothing seems to be available, like the comm server just crashes. But there are no errors in any event log that coincide with this. And the customer session stays active through the browser, usually customers use the browser back button and just submit again. But the merchant card provider returns a duplicate transaction error. We have tried to do logging outside of the actual commerce server process to catch this or any error associated with this to no avail. The process seems to stop and even roll back anything we store and log around this.

We opened up a support call with Microsoft but if anyone has any insite please respond.
