Windows Media Player and Messenger

Where do I find the plug-in for Windows Media Player that lets me show contacts what music I'm listening to on Windows Live Messenger?

Open Windows Media Player. In Tools menu you'll see Plug-ins. Check Windows Live messenger Music Plug-in.

And in Live Messenger, under your status you have <Type a personal message> and a down arrow. Click the arrow and select Turn On "What I'm listening too"

I don't have the plug-in. Where do I get it?

It is (well, it should be there!) in Windows Media Player by default. Did you check it?

Yes, I checked. I do not seem to have it at all.

Strange, it should be there.

Anyway, you can check this site with the same plug-in as the original one is not working for you.

I didn't tested it and I'm not saying that this will work 100% as I use only Microsoft Genuine Software and don't like 3-rd party's plug-ins.

however, if it will work fine for you, tell me so I know it too.

Regards,

Vitalie

Same problem here.

This was my solution:

On the media player, go to the properties dialog where you can add another plug in. (the one that asks for a .exe or .dll)

On the dialog to took for the file, navigate to the directory of your MSN Messenger instalation and look for a file named msgrapp.dll (the name can have a version number after the msngrapp).

When you add it, the media player shows it as unknow, but when you activate it, voila!!!

Let my know if it works for you as it worked for me.

Sorry for the bad english, it's not my native languaje.

Good luck. Bye.

I have the exact same problem. I installed Windows Vista, and it comes with the new Windows Media Player (v.11). In my Windows Live Messenger Beta, the "now playing plugin" is clicked. In the Windows Media Player, however, under the plug-in section in options, there is not "now playing plugin for Windows messenger" available.

David Triana's solution works. Thanks. Instead of clicking on properties i clicked on Add which is under the properties options and followed his directions from there.
