DataBase Testing

hi to all,

Just for my knowlege i would like to know how to do database test.... can we do it manually or should we use any tools... I dont know if i am right is it like we entering some detail or data in the system and check it out if it is getting stored in the database..... Correct me if i wrong......

if any one can explain it would be great....
