Catalog manager not showing anything in Catalogs, but Search dialog Shows the catalog names?

I am running a commerce server 2007 over my windows XP machine, i installed AZMAN from windows server 2003 toolkit with AZMAN runtime...everything went fine.
in the commerce server manager, the site which has the resources are all pointing to the correct database with proper connection strings.
the problem is when i am opening catalog manager, the catalog pane is EMPTY, in case my connection strings are wrong it must have thrown an exception, or i would have find some sort of exception in the event viewer....
we also have a customized catalog manager, which is working fine on all of our windows 2003 server machines, i copied the azman config file (the xml file which is used by the catalogwebservice from one of the machines), and in it's search dialog i can see the listed catalogs, but still in its treee view i can't browse or see any category.
