I'm using Vb express 2005 beta 2.
If I hit "new project", the only options I have are :
- class library
- screen saver starter kit
Where are all the rest ? I cant even create a windows form ?
I should have here a couple of options to add (modules, classes etc..)
I reinstalled it. Still the same issue.

did yu run a previous beta on that pc?
do you get errors, if trying to crate one of the existing project-types?
Actually, no, this is a totally fresh install.
I bought a brand new laptop about a month ago, that I formatted and re-built the partitions again, then installing win xp + sp2
On my destop, I had the previous beta 1 installed before beta 2.
On my laptop I installed directly Vb express beta 2. I registered it. And I was working on a project that I begun earlier (so I had no chance to discover I could not insert new windows blank forms cause my project is about to be finished).
Recently, I wanted to begin a brand new program and discovered it.
It cant be frsher that it is.
Yesterday I tryed the following :
- 'repair' the installation............... did not fix it
- uninstall it, then reboot, then re-install ..... did not fix either
- finally, 'repair' framework beta 2........ did not fix it. :(
I may have one possibility to thing of the origin of the problem : I remember that vb express 2005 beta 2 created a directory c:\visual studio 2005\ with some templates folders.
I went to the settings and changed the location of it.
I do not remember if they were some important files or not (I believe it was emplty, but I can be wrong)
Anyway I may have deleted it... thinking that it will rebuild those files.
I'm sure that the setting files are rebuild automatiquely, but reight now my
- item template
- project template folders are both empty.....
Do you think it can have to do something with my problem ? Is that a place for additionals templates, or were some important files included ?
That's why I decided to re-install.. but its still empty...
Also, last point, even when de-installing the all thing, re-installing it, the values for the location I changed (for the aforementionned templates, and also for the settings) are still in the way I changed it.
I then assume thet even when uninstalling some reg keys are not erased........ so maybe during reinstallation they do not copy those files again (the program think its at a user defined location)
Anyway........ I dont know if that might be a reason...
Could you tell me what you have in those folders please ?
To answer your second question, no everything works out fine. But I only have "class library" option :( I cant do anything with that :(
