Please Help this Amateur r.e. Office 97!

I purchased an apparently used old CD of Microsoft Office 97 from the Goodwill Superstore Computer Works in Fort Worth, Texas. When I try to install the CD using the Cd key on the back of the case, it says it is invalid. How can I purchase or obtain a new cd key and/or the rights to use this software? I did not realize at the time of purchase that this would be an issue. (My ignorance!) Can you help me or direct me to the right information? Also is MS Office 97 compatible with Win ME OS? Thanks for any help or info you can offer from any of you gracious wise experts--the Yodas of the Computer World!!! smile.

Yes, Office 97 will run on Win ME. ;>)

In regards to the CD key, however, you'll have to call the Microsoft Office Support line at (866) 452-4755. Note that this is actually the help line for Office 2000 Pro; there is no longer a specific line for Office 97. Once you get a person on the phone, however, just explain your situation and he or she will most likely be able to help you.

Thanks!
