Can somebody supply any information that is available re; the planned release dates for WF, in particular with regards to:

1) A version compatible with theBeta 2+ build of Visual Studio 2005 that was provided on the goods disks at the PDC 2005 conference.

2) A version compatible with the VS2005 being released in November.

Hi Mark -

The next public release will be Beta2 which is planned towards the end of December. The plan is to make Beta2 release compatible with VS2005 RTM.

As far as the Go-live licenses, they are still being finalized. Stay tuned.

Hope that helps

What kind of timeframe will the WWF be released in? Obviously this is going to be post Whidbey RTM but will this be a standalone component installable on .NET 2.0 as opposed to something which will need to wait for Vista?

Thanks

LeeB - Please check the Windows Workflow Foundation press release here for the release timeframe. It is scheduled to be around the same time as Vista's release.

Also, you can take a look at this thread. An important note is that Windows Workflow Foundation will actually release next summer before the rest of WinFx because it's a dependency for Office 12. Then Windows Workflow Foundation will be included in WinFx in the Windows Vista timeframe.

Hi Moustafa,

Did you have more news about beta 2?

I use VS 2005 prof but with workflow foundation beta 1, I have a "unable to load package" issue, and with beta 1.2, the CPU goes to 100% for a infinite time.

I am very excited about the possibilities of workflow foundation and I will be happy to have a better look than some slides.

Information regarding Go-Live was published this morning Pacific Standard Time.

You can find more information about Go-Live possibilities on http://msdn.microsoft.com/winfx/getthebeta/golive/default.aspx

It only applies to certain downloads and components, so please review restrictions and requirements carefully.
