Live Communication Server 2005 SP1 - Specified backend for the pool is current in use
Hi, I have installed the Live Communcation Server 2005 SP1 on my x64 computer with Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2. I found that i have given the wrong name for the DNS, and therefore i am trying to re-install it. However, when doing the step "Create/Upgrade Existing Pool", it gives the error "[0xC3EC78BA] Specified backend for the pool is current in use". The error is understandable, but what can I do to remove the previous wrong pool?
I have sucessfully removed the whole LCS already, and therefore it is not possible to use that snap-in to remove a pool. By the way, the snap-in didn't show up any tree when it was installed with wrong DNS. I have searched through the Internet, but all the instructions are: use the snap-in. This drives me crazy.
For your information, I am using Enterprise Edition of LCS.
I don't mind to re-install the whole LCS if it works. So my question is, is it possible to just remove the existing wrongly-typed DNS record, so that I can re-install the software? Of course if there is any other better solution I appreciate.
If I have posted my message in a wrong board, please tell me, but please also give the link to the "correct" board. Thank you very much.

I also just installed LCS2005 SP1 (SE) on Windows Server 2003 SP2 x64.
I have the exact same problem as you do: no tree in the management snap-in. On top of that, the "Live Communications" tab that is now supposed to be on the user properties is not there either.
What was "wrong" about your DNS name?
I am just wondering of the 32 bit LCS2005 plays nicely with x64 Windows.
I'll keep you posted, hope you'll do the same!
Thank you for your reply.
Yes, I will keep you posted.
I have a typo mistake in the DNS.....and I can't recover it now.....
I used the command line tool to fix that problem and have it re-installed. However, the snap-in still doesn't work....
The KB-911996 hotfix caused version conflict (told by the windows event log) and therefore I have removed it.
The service is running, but there are 2 errors in the event viewer when a service is started.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft LC 2005\Server\IMFilter.am
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft LC 2005\Server\routing.am
I am using the Domain administrator account and therefore I don't think there is any privilege problem.
So here, what can I do?
By the way, do I need to install anything to the domain controller machine before deploying the LCS?
Thank you.
I can explore the tree now and have logged in with Windows Messenger to the Live Communication Server.
Install the .msc file (LCS administration tool on the CD) to another machine, which is not x64. In the Administrative Tools, the default msc file still does not work. You will have to open an empty MMC, add the "Live Communication Server 2005" to the tree.
