problem installing both VC++ and VCS express 2008 beta
Hello,
I am trying to install both VC++ and VCS from DVD image ( express 2008 beta )
I installed VC++ correctly, but then I tried to install VCS after and
I don't get any access to VCS ide ?
I tried to reinstall VCS several times, but result is the same
I thought that maybe ide is the same for both, but when I open IDE
I only get C++ projects.
Am I missing something ?
Thanks.

Hello khapahk.
What exactly happens when you try to install Visual C# Express? Did the install succeed? Did it add anything to the start menu?
I ask because it sounds suspiciously like you are trying to use the same application, the Visual C++ Express IDE, to do C# development after you install C# Express. Please be aware that they are entirely separate applications, and you'll need to select a different item from the start menu to do C# development.
Hope this helps!

Thanks for your reply.
Sorry for the delay but I am very busy these days
No, I undestand they are 2 separate applications.
I just did install vc++ and then a few days later I installed vcs from the same dvd
I looked for the application to start vcs and I did not find anything in the start menu.
I looked in the vcs directory but I don't seem to have a complete install.
I tried a repair from the installer but nothing changed.
What is the name of the vc# application ?
Thanks.

Hi again.
The start menu item for Visual C# Express is called "Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition" - it should be in your start menu by itself (not inside a folder like Visual C++ Express is).
You should be able to find it on your hard drive in this folder <Program Files>\Microsoft Visual Studio 9.0\Microsoft Visual C# 2008 Express Edition - ENU. If you don't see anything there, then you certainly have run into a problem. Under that folder you should see a "Logs" subdirectory - we'll want to see the file in that directory if you have indeed run into a bug.

Yes, this is correct !

As I have already gazillions of other items in my start menu, I did not see it
My simple and lazy mind was not looking for it there as VC++ is in it's own
folder.
How is the install from one product giving different setups from its brother ?
I think that you should make consistency and orthogonality your 2008 mantra!
Thanks for your help.
