Facing poor voice quality in Voice based application.

I hope I am posting this query in the right forum!!!

Anywayz,

i am developing a voice based SoftPhone which registers to server and makes calls similar to Gtalk!

I am currentluy facing these problems on Vista:

1) The voice is choppy/ broken uniformly while a call is established.

2) There i brief pause in the voice when any other application is minimised/ maximised.

3) The dial tones, ringtones are distorted.

Can someone please help as to what could have gone wrong

I need help really as the application does not sound good to my ears.
