Media center wont record in standby, hibernate or when its turned off

Media center used to record whether or not the pc was turned on or not. I scheduled two shows the other day to record while i was at work and nothing. Thinking maybe i forgot to record, or advance record correctly i scheduled another advance recording a few days later. Still no recording was done. I went to my power settings and made sure that neither the monitor nor the hard drive would turn off, scheduled a recording for the next 30 minute segment, then put the pc in standby. At the time the pc should have started recording, I received a message saying that media center couldnt record because there was no signal. I went into media center immediately and successfully recorded the exact same program that wouldnt advance record. By the way the picture was great, so it wasnt like there had been a weak signal coming into the pc.

I have an hp with media center 2005 and its a relatively new pc (6 months) with intel core duo 2.13 ghrtz, 2gmem and 500g hard drive thats not close to being full.

i use chckdsk and defrag every 2-3 days.

If nothing else, could someone tell me where to go to uninstall then install the media center i have now or to uninstall this one and then install another one.

I did make the mistake of upgrading to windows media player 11, although i'm not positive its the probem, but...

any replies would be greatly appreciated.
